What is an Academy
New school… New thinking… New opportunities…
Academies are at the centre of the Government’s Education Programme for schools of the 21st Century. They are publicly funded independent schools established through a partnership between Government, Local Authorities and Sponsors operating from the private, business or voluntary sectors, or from Churches and other faith groups.
Academies will draw upon the experience of the Sponsors and partners to establish a school at the forefront of new thinking in the education of children. Academies are resourced with state of the art facilities, through which a broad curriculum of core subjects and specialist subjects are offered.
